Gwyneth Paltrow's life is a WAR (video)

Cindy calls Gwyn's war comments ignorant, selfish
Online comments are hurt like war
When Gwyneth Paltrow stirred controversy this week by comparing her daily struggles with Internet trolls to the “dehumanizing” experience of soldiers at war, she messed with the wrong woman: Cindy McCain [wife of the horrible, Sarah Palin-picking, NDAA-promoting, Ukraine-stirring, Hillary-loving, Vietnam POW and Senate Republican war hawk].

Hearing about Paltrow’s comments, the wife of Arizona Sen. John McCain took to Twitter, calling the actress “a joke” and stating that “My 2 sons serving in the military should talk to her.” (McCain’s son Jimbo served in Iraq as a Marine, and her son Jack is a Navy lieutenant).

In an interview on Thursday with HLN Now TV, she went a step further, calling Paltrow’s comments “ignorant” and “selfish” and offering to take her to meet with veterans.

Katy Perry: I'm on meds
“I would encourage Gwyneth Paltrow -- and I would be happy to go with her -- to go sit down with some troops who have served in Afghanistan or Iraq and talk to them about what really goes on, and perhaps meet some of the young men and women who have lost limbs from this,” Cindy McCain said on HLN Now TV. “It’s Hollywood; I don’t know what else to say.” More

Shut your trap, shut it, shut it!
Hey, dummy! Leave Gwynny alone!!! Don't you realize she's going through the Holocaust of "conscious uncoupling" -- which ex-husband Chris Martin ends his silence on like Godzilla clearing his throat before doing an extended Coldplay whine song? Why don't you go send some care packages to your war brood? And leave the Gooper to carry on shining her superior light on the rest of the world? Pick on Katie FED UP Couric, or Ann Coulter or, hey, have you noticed he's talking to close family friend and Democratic war-loving elitist Hills Clinton?

Corrupt police go on trial in Los Angeles

Grab her! She's wearing a wire! She's wearing a wire! She's wearing an underwire bra!

MA woman with the sense to record her cop encounter on her cell phone is now facing felony wiretapping charges for not informing them. (What if they had broken the law on tape?) Karen Dziewit was drinking outside an apartment building. Residents complained that she was yelling at them and refused to calm down. More

LA jail scandal: 1st of 20 indicted sheriff's deputies faces trial
Staff Photos
Rina Palta (KPCC)
The first of 20 [criminal] deputies charged in a sweeping investigation into corruption and civil rights violations in L.A.'s county jails goes to trial today.

James Sexton is charged with obstruction of justice related to an incident involving an [L.A. Jail] inmate working as an FBI informant.

According to prosecutors, a group of deputies learned an inmate at Men's Central Jail, Anthony Brown, was working as an informant for the FBI. The FBI was investigating [police] corruption -- such as deputies smuggling contraband into the jails -- and civil rights violations that included deputies beating inmates.

Turn around, I beat your faces, m-f'ers!
[This would amount to felony assaults under color of uniform, conspiracy, gang affiliation in that Sheriff deputies have formed a criminal gang among themselves, attempted murder, witness tampering, and torture of captives, which is a "crime against humanity" in the eyes of the International Court of Justice even if condoned by American courts].

Prosecutors say when deputies learned Brown was an informant, they interviewed him, took his cell phone away, and "fudged" records to make it look like he had been released from jail.

Meanwhile, Brown was being moved from jail to jail under a false name [kidnapping, false imprisonment, conspiracy, witness tampering, falsification of records].

Sexton is accused of helping falsify records, keeping watch over the hidden inmate, and denying access to FBI agents who arrived at the jail to talk with Brown.

You want Tibet, S.O.B., I'll give you Tibet!
He later approached the FBI with his concerns over the episode, but nevertheless was charged as part of a larger obstruction of justice case against seven deputies allegedly involved in hiding Brown.

Sexton's defense attorneys are expected to argue that he was following orders from higher ups [criminal conspiracy], that he was unaware he was being investigated when he cooperated with the FBI, and that he did not intend to obstruct justice, as evidenced by his later cooperation with federal authorities.

The remaining six deputies in the case are expected to go to trial when Sexton's trial concludes. LISTEN (0:51 secs)

Police state
Sheriff Lee Baca stepped down abruptly earlier this year, not to avoid charges being brought against him or anything...but, well, sort of to avoid charges. He was seen recently walking around as a free man attending the blessing for Pasadena's planned Armenian Genocide Memorial, which ironically commemorates a holocaust and torture perpetrated by Turks while he as Sheriff for term after term perpetrated crimes against humanity with impunity. He didn't know. How would a boss know? It must have been "rogue elements" under him. Yeah, that's it! The other police did it! He can't be held responsible for covering up for them...if he can prove he didn't know. Yes, sure, maybe he should have known, but if he can prove that he did not... Well, now we see why he had to leave office. If he were charged and held, a standing Sheriff would be thrown in the very jail system he runs. And what kind of justice is there in that? If he gets thrown in one he ran, well that's more acceptable to keep up the front that Los Angeles police are here to serve and protect everyone. They are here to "protect" only a very few and to "serve" banking interests and other conservatives who give them money. And taxes from citizens don't count. They just don't, so don't try to bring that up.

Los Angeles Sheriff leaving office

Pfc. Sandoval, Ashley Wells, CC Liu, Wisdom Quarterly; Los Angeles Times
Did Baca foster a culture of racism, sexism, anti-semitism? There was no anti-semitism.

Bye-bye, Baca! Shot yourself in the foot or the
Los Angeles' lead torturer of those being held for trial in the Los Angeles jail system, Sheriff Lee Baca, is baling out. He was set to run for a fifth term in a position where the incumbent wins most of the time. But on the night of Jan. 6th, it was being announced that he would be stepping down. Speculation was that he would be charged with major felonies -- as 18 of his deputies were recently arrested in an FBI investigation of abuses in the Sheriff's office -- and Baca did not want to be bogged down with a losing reelection campaign. His vague excuses for getting out as fast as he can, after two week's notice, is reminiscent of the former Turncoat-Pope (Benedict) avoiding arrest on molestation cover-up and major bank fraud charges. Did the FBI cut a deal with him in secret? "Get out of Dodge and we'll look the other way. Otherwise, there's a coach leaving at noon; be under it"? It's possible. Disgraced Baca is getting out while the gettin's good.

I didn't murder them myself. And I quit! (LAT)
Only he knows what he's hiding. And only he knows how many detainees awaiting their day in court, mentally ill convicts, non mentally ill prisoners, or the growing number of innocents pressured to agree to plea deals to avoid unfair prosecution and draconian sentences were tortured, summarily executed (in murders labelled "suicides" or "accidents" after excessive force beatings).

There was one time when the new Sheriff's deputies, all of whom begin their careers as jail guards, were being too sloppy about concealing their beatings of suspects and detainees. The Sheriff was pressed, and he said there were cameras throughout the jail. They were later found in a derelict office still in boxes. Oops, the Sheriff said. That is the kind of leadership unincorporated L.A. has been suffering under in police executions ("officer-involved shootings") and jail torture cases. Will he really retire quietly basting in remorse? Or can the world expect to see him picked up by a global "security" firm like former LAPD Chief Bratton, who then went on to be rehired by the NYPD?

Pussy Riot, AK-47, Thailand, porn... (video)

The patriotic Communist Russian inventor of the AK-47, the world's most popular killing machine, died today at 94. Mikhail Kalishnikov died saying he had no regrets: The politicians, not the proles, were to blame for the wanton killing, he claimed (EuroNews).

Two members of the feminist punk group Pussy Riot have been released [a little early] from prison through amnesty.

[This was done to avoid embarrassment for Putin and Russia during the Winter Olympics in Sochi]. Nadia Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina had been jailed since last March for protesting Putin in an Orthodox Christian cathedral....
Maria Alyokhina: "Yes, I was keen to reject this amnesty, but the prison had received an order. That’s why I was [released and] brought here. Now I would like to meet human rights activists. And now I would like now to deal with the issue of prison. I would like to engage in human rights activity. Now I’m not afraid of anything anymore. Believe me."

Russia’s former richest man, Mikhail Khodorkovsky, was also released after serving more than a decade. He was jailed after financing Putin’s opponents and considered a "prisoner of conscience" by Amnesty International. More

Protest: An Ultimatum in Ukraine

Ukraine bows to Russian pressure (LAT)
KIEV, Ukraine - Protesters toppled a monument to Bolshevik leader Vladimir Lenin on Sunday during the biggest march and rally in central Kiev since Pres. Viktor Yanukovich galvanized his opposition by turning down a trade deal with the European Union (EU).

The protesters blocked and barricaded government offices and said they were giving Yanukovich 48 hours to disband his government [just as happened in Iceland] before marching on his country residence near Kiev. A government spokesman said Yanukovich's administration was "ready for negotiations."

In turning down the trade deal with the EU, Yanukovich was in effect asserting that Russia remained Ukraine's key trading partner. The country [formerly a part of Finland] is politically and geographically divided between those who favor ties to Russia and those who would like to see Ukraine more aligned with Western Europe.

Seven Balkans still not part of EU (LAT)
That gave the toppling of the Lenin statue symbolic resonance -- despite the fact that most Lenin statues in Russia itself were torn down during the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. Statues of the Soviet leader were once ubiquitous throughout the East bloc, but those that remain are more likely to be museum pieces than public memorials.

No police officers could be seen anywhere in the vicinity of Taras Shevchenko Boulevard, where the granite and marble monument was brought crashing into the street by a group of young protesters. "It is amazing how the authorities allowed Lenin to go down!" said Sergei Andriyenko, a 51-year-old Kiev businessman who applauded the action. "Where were the police, where were the communists who were always protecting him?" More
