The Violence Within Us
Violence and brutality are grim realities of life. In one hour, four TED speakers explore the sinister side of our dim human nature -- and ask whether we're all capable of violence.

"Pray to the Moon when it's round. Death with you shall then abound..." sings Slayer (from "Hell Awaits"), one of the most popular bands for U.S. militants, along with all things porn, songs serial killers might whistle while engaged in their doings.

U.S. tanks come equipped with CD players and premium music systems. Why? American soliders like to enjoy some music to kill by. "Driven by the instinct of centuries of horror/ Implanted along the brain of the sickening parasite/ Linked together by one trait/ The hell-filled need to kill, kill, kill, kill, KILL" (Slayer, "At Dawn They Sleep"). But the No. 1 song on the military hit parade is "Bodies" by Drowning Pool: "Let the bodies hit the floor"! What is more "evil" (Pali papa) than industrial-scale killing?

The Super Full Moon Tonight

Moon over Auckland (TG)
Supermoon lights up skies around the world – in pictures. The perigee Moon, or Supermoon, rises over Mount Eden in Auckland, New Zealand, on Sunday morning. A dramatic Supermoon is set to accompany this year's Perseid meteor shower, one of the most anticipated events on the skywatcher's calendar. Given a dark, clear sky in a normal year, it is common to see more than 100 of the meteors an hour during the second week in August. But this year the Perseids have a bright shining rival. On Sunday, two days before the meteor shower reaches its peak, the Moon will become full. Coincidentally, it will also have reached the point in its orbit that is closest to the Earth, known as perigee. The Supermoon will be up to 14% bigger and 30% brighter than other full moons during the year. On one level, this is bad news, according to Dr. Bill Cooke from NASA's meteoroid environment office. "Lunar glare wipes out the black, velvety backdrop required to see faint meteors, and sharply reduces counts." More

7 Ancient Pyramids of Crimea, Ukraine (video)

Amber Larson, Dhr. Seven, Pat Macpherson, Wisdom Quarterly
Jurassic Era pyramids resembling Egypt's and Mexico's found buried in Crimea, Ukraine
(Dahboo77, Spartakus90000) What is the real cause of the war? The oldest pyramids on Earth, a distinction formerly reserved for Bosnia and Egypt, found buried in Crimea?

Wheel-turning monarch (chakravartin)
The world is full of pyramids because there used to be world-cultures and world-rulers (chakravartins) with very advanced technology (anti-gravity vimanas, akasha-ships in the shape of wheels or chakras) usually arriving from the air or emerging from within the planet, according to ancient lore not just of India.

Indeed, India has a long history of life on Earth recorded in its sacred Vedic texts from the Indus Valley Civilization that preceded it. Sumerians, Egyptians, Near Easterners (now part of the geopolitical Middle East). There have been civilizations that ruled the globe at times, as suggested by Dr. Michael Cremo's "forbidden archeology." Investigative journalist Linda Moulton Howe confirmed the existence of an underground pyramid/power station in the U.S. state of Alaska.

War, prehistoric pyramids, inexplicable mummies, UFOs, and more all going on concurrently in Crimea. World leaders are desperate to keep it concealed in Ukraine.

This will blow minds. While empires face off, we have to wonder why. What could be so important to risk war? Pyramids have been uncovered in Crimea (QHA/ICTV), which is connected to Ukraine and the Central Asian 'stans where the Buddha, possibly a Scythian (Saka or Shakya), was born. The pyramids are there, and so are the Russians, who will not be ransacked by the West without a fight.

Will this election unite Ukraine? (video)

Abuse of female protester, Ukraine (FEMEN)
At least 30 pro-Russian rebels have reportedly died in fierce fighting at the airport in the eastern Ukrainian city of Donetsk. The Ukrainian government bombarded the airport with air strikes, then paratroopers, after rebels seized it on Monday. The fighting began just hours after the pro-European billionaire candy tycoon Petro Poroshenko won Ukraine’s first presidential election since the ouster of Viktor Yanukovych.

Sexism may be alive and well in Europe, Russia
After his election, Petro Poroshenko said he was ready to negotiate with Russian President Vladimir Putin, but he ruled out any talks with pro-Russian rebels in eastern Ukraine. To discuss these developments, DN is joined by three guests: Christopher Miller of the Kyiv Post, reporting just steps from the embattled airport in Donetsk; Jack Matlock, the former U.S. ambassador to the Soviet Union from 1987 to 1991; and Timothy Snyder, professor of history at Yale University, who just returned from Kiev and wrote the article in The New York Review of Books titled Ukraine: The Edge of Democracy. Underground worlds: Buddhist Russia

Amber Larson, Xochitl, Pat Macpherson, Pfc. Sandoval, Wisdom Quarterly; RT News (facebook); Lindsey Bright (curatormagazine.com)
There are habitable caverns all over the planet (Buddha cave/Chatchai laka-mankong/flickr)

RT covers the US well
(RT) Many interesting things are hidden under the ground. In Odessa, Ukraine (formerly Czarist Russia and the USSR, part of Russia's Far East in Northern Asia), man made caves, caverns, and catacombs are scattered across the region -- stretching 2,500 km long, making them the longest in the world, but not necessarily the biggest, however.

These so-called catacombs were home to partisan bases during World War II. In Vladivostok -- the main Russian military naval base in the Far East -- engineers built a fortress at the beginning of the 20th century. Moreover, the largest underground Russian church is hidden in Penza, according to RT.

D.U.M.B.s
What greed overcomes the U.S. MIC?
Are there similar deep underground military bases in the United States? Better believe it. They exist under Los Angeles but are most famously concentrated in Nevada and New Mexico, particularly the Archuleta Mesa (Dulce, NM) and in and around the Grand Canyon, Arizona.

These were not built exclusively by the U.S. military, CIA, and MIC (military-industrial complex). Native Americans say they were the home of humanoids referred to as the "Ant People," who live there and saved the lives of humans on the surface from time to time by welcoming them into their subterranean cities, which are not dark or lifeless but fully fleshed out and high tech.

Archuleta Mesa and its off-planet inhabitants
Archuleta Mesa, a bluff in the desert mountains of Dulce, New Mexico

Archuleta Mesa is the central geographic feature of Dulce, New Mexico, the heart of the Jicarilla Apache Nation.... In 2009, 120 people from around the world and the area attended the Dulce Underground UFO Base Conference. One local in attendance was Horacio Garcia. I know Garcia well. I know his kids and family and have spent time with them.

Big, kind, with baggy pants, bandana often tied low on his forehead and tattoos covering his arms, he is known for his knowledge on aliens. In Dec. 2011, I asked him about the Greys and the Dulce Alien Base.

[He answered,] “I don’t have to tell you anything. In a few weeks, everybody will know. The aliens will reveal themselves,” Garcia said. A few weeks passed, and I felt, thought, saw, and believed the same. If I was looking at aliens or alien artifacts, I didn’t see them. Yet, many claim to have seen strange and bizarre sights in Dulce and Lumberton, New Mexico -- coyotes that turn into humans, big orbs of light floating in the valleys, dogs that run faster than a speeding car, Bigfoot (Sasquatches), cow fetuses with the face of a tiger (government research chimeras) -- and (extraterrestrial) aliens, specifically, the Greys. It is interesting to note that according to Hindu and later Buddhist cosmologies, "heavens," usually referring to celestial worlds, are described as existing in space as well as underground inside this planet, which Wisdom Quarterly has covered.

Future "collateral damage," Afghanistan
While the West imposes sanctions on Russia, Russia is making a deal with China as each has something to offer the other, David Kuo, CEO of the Motley Fool Singapore financial Website, told RT. [One of the real reasons the U.S. fulfilled its longstanding plans to invade innocent Afghanistan -- after fomenting controversy by creating "the Taliban" with the help of Pakistani intelligence, demolishing the Buddhas of Bamiyan, and using 9/11 as the ultimate pretext for invasion, revenge, and an endless war on terror/fear in the Middle East and Wahabhi-Islam -- was for oil. There was a plan to build a massive pipeline to facilitate the plans of American and Western multinational corporations. "No blood for oil" protesters aware of this used to say.] More

In keeping with Soviet-era traditions, Thursday's parade was organized by trade unions and honored the working person.

But it also celebrated Russia's annexation of Crimea and was seen as part of Pres. Vladimir Putin's efforts to stoke patriotic feelings. Marchers held up signs saying "Let's go to Crimea for vacation" and "Putin is right." Russian flags fluttered through the crowd. More

Before Obama became president, his message of "change" had many falling in love with the well-groomed CIA operative and Illinois senator. One busty individual, model Amber Lee Ettinger, became an instant Internet hit when she declared her "love" for the then-candidate. Ettinger's "Obama Girl" video went viral. But years of the commander-in-chief in office has her looking for a new crush. She joins RT America with more on why she has had a change of heart.

The voice behind Obama Girl, Leah Kauffman
A new Obama Girl video -- “Still Got a Crush on Obama” -- was released in 2012: If “Obama Girl” looked different but sounded exactly the same, that’s because Leah Kauffman -- the original singer and songwriter behind the 2008 “Crush on Obama” song and video -- actually stars in this one.  Last time Kauffman and partner Ben Relles, who is not involved with this new video, hired a [hot] model, Amber Lee Ettinger, to lip-synch the original song. But in 2012 Kauffman finally stepped up to take center-stage. VIDEO

Six years into the Obama administration, the president’s promise of “a new era of open government” seems just another grand promise, cynically broken. LISTEN

As colleges across the country, from Harvard to U of Mississippi, deal with (often unconscious but sometimes blatant) racism, a new film tackles the issue with comedy and satire: "Dear White People" follows a group of black students on a fictional Ivy League campus. One of the students hosts a campus radio show of the same name. It confronts racist stereotypes and dilemmas faced by students of color. Tensions come to a head when a group of mostly white students throw an African-American-themed party, wearing blackface and using watermelons and fake guns as props. More

Review: Pussy Riot in L.A. (video)

Amber Larson, Seth Auberon, CC Liu, Wisdom Quarterly;  Library Foundation L.A. (lfla.org)

Nadia T. (right) and fellow Pussy Riot member post-prison; Euro TV (RTE 1) last month (S).

What were we expecting to find at author (Words Will Break Cement: The Passion of Pussy Riot) Masha Gessen's Pussy Riot lecture in LA? Riot Grrrl protests in a staid building in the middle of the largest library in town? There were crowds taking advantage of the extra hour afforded by daylight savings time. It was cool and breezy, yet there was not a single balaclava in the audience. DayGlo hair yes, "Free Pussy Riot" teeshirts yes, feminists yes. Activists? Not so much. No nude protesters, no riot police, no mobs of newsmen after photos of topless demonstrators.

Don a balaclava and you, too, are Pussy Riot
The capacity crowd was here to be intellectually stimulated by researcher Masha Gessen, who somehow managed to survive gay and out in increasingly draconian Russia. She relayed the arresting details of a sham trial that was a "trial" only in one sense: The Pussy Riot defendants got to read their own prepared statements near the end. It almost brought us to tears as Nadia (pictured above, right), who conceived of a Wee-wee (later changed in English to Pussy) Riot, a radical feminist art protest collective, read a statement that explained our whole reason for working on Wisdom Quarterly: American Buddhist Journal. Nadia speaks for us by her brave court statements. She was a philosophy major, after all.

(HBO Special) "A Punk Prayer" the American Pussy Riot documentary

We got to hear first hand from Gessen how Putin is, indeed, a dictator the likes of which have not been seen since George W. Bush stole a pair of American elections. (She is also the author of Man Without a Face: Unlikely Rise of Vladimir Putin).

He appointed himself "president" three times then rigged elections after the fact to confirm and legitimize the appointment. He was suffering from a great deal of unpopularity, particularly at the time Pussy Riot was singing a "Punk Prayer" (see entire HBO special above) against him in the former empire's most famous Christian church.

Russian Buddhist temple (Alexey Savransky)
(The Buddhist temples, such as the famous monastery in Elista, tend to be in the east, in Europe's only indigenously Buddhist country, Kalmykia, which is part of Russia). But, Gessen pointed out, traditionally the Eastern Orthodox Church has always been the last resort of scoundrels in officially atheist Russia.

If Imperialist Hillary says so
Russia was never actually atheist; that was just the official party line, and most Russians were never members of the official party, which was for elites. The Church was always there to back a dictator if called upon, according to Gessen. (This was because the KGB killed or defrocked any resistors within the Church then replaced them with spies and cronies, much like our American mainstream media).

Protesting Putin, promoting Pussy Riot (FP)
Putin has only recently seen his numbers skyrocket because of his incursions into Ukraine and Crimea, moves which most Russians seem to approve. Moscovites and Kremlin insiders certainly love it, as do the very rural areas of the country. Why? As Gessen reveals, 85% of Russia is wholly dependent on state-run media [and, we would guess, the other 15% is involved in making and/or disseminating that media].

But now, as of the day of her lecture, it's worse. What little independent media there was has been dismantled in the past two weeks. Since Sochi things have only gotten worse. Pussy Riot activists have been attacked, as aided and abetted by the police state. But Russia has never known democracy or any real freedom in their lifetimes, yet Nadia and the others recognized the lies and faux freedoms were lies.

Men conquer, and I'm The Man.
For instance, how could Russians not see how Pussy Riot was trying to help and liberate them? The state-run media saw to that: A "Punk Prayer" has the lyrics "oh shit, oh shit, oh shit," and due to this and some spin doctoring, most of the surprisingly pious country to this day thinks Pussy Riot members defecated inside the church. Thus their sensibilities were hurt, accused and convicted of a hate crime.

RT helped WikiLeaks
And as ludicrous as it may seem, even RT -- which has done so much to reveal what American media/propaganda tries to conceal -- has been forced to go overtly pro-Moscow in reporting new propaganda. The channel was always funded by the state but exhibited editorial freedom that made it one of our favorite outlets to turn to get a view on what our own government wouldn't tell us. An opposition party, no matter how awful, is always needed in a democracy.
