Indian photographer Raj Shetye is criticized after posing fashion models in scenes echoing brutal and fatal assault of woman on bus.

He has sparked outrage for a fashion shoot that depicted a woman being assaulted on a bus, echoing a fatal gang-rape that shocked the nation.

The project, called The Wrong Turn, appeared in his online portfolio and was then taken down, but not before coming to the attention of the media.

The photos show a female model dressed in high-end fashion garments being groped on a bus by a group of men, also fashionably dressed, in various poses.

An honest man on ISRAEL: Noam Chomsky

Wisdom Quarterly; Noam Chomsky, Amy Goodman (democracynow.org, Aug. 7, 2014)

Hideous. Sadistic. Vicious. Murderous. That is how Noam Chomsky describes Israel’s 29-day offensive war on Gaza -- which as killed nearly 1,900 people and left almost 10,000 Gazan Palestinians injured.

Chomsky has written extensively about the Israel conflict with Palestine for decades. After Israel’s Operation Cast Lead in 2008-2009, Chomsky co-authored the book Gaza in Crisis: Reflections on Israel’s War Against the Palestinians with Israeli scholar Ilan PappĂ©. (Exeter University Prof. PappĂ© is one of the leading voices on Israel, calling the U.S./Israel campaign against Palestine an "incremental genocide").

Max Blumenthal exposes Israel's crimes

Wisdom Quarterly; author Max Blumental (WeAreManyMedia, "Future of Palestine," San Francisco 2014, Socialism Conference 2014), Mitch Jeserich, Berkeley (KPFK, July 28, 2014)
(May 2014) The movement for Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) against the "State of Israel" has recently made major strides in the U.S.

Tiny Gaza Strip, walled open air prison
With divestment and boycott  votes (against Israeli institutions) moving forward on campuses across the country, discussions of the movement and its objectives have entered the mainstream.

This means others have intensified efforts to suppress discussion of the truth about Israel's escalating war crimes against civilian Palestinians, promoting legislation to defund institutions that participate in boycotts, and pressuring university administrations to punish students and faculty who support BDS.

Max Blumental and Ali Abunimah, two leading voices in the movement in solidarity with Palestine, discuss their acclaimed new books -- Goliath and The Battle for Justice in Palestine -- recent developments in the Middle East, the U.S., and the future of Palestine.
In Goliath: Life and Loathing in Greater Israel, New York Times bestselling author Max Blumenthal shows readers the badlands and main streets of Israel-Palestine.

Blumenthal paints a startling portrait of Israeli society under the tyranny of worsening authoritarian politics as its illegal occupation of the Palestinians continues and deepens.

Beginning with the national elections carried out during Israel's earlier war on Gaza in 2008-09, which brought into power the country's most right-wing government to date [where even official Israeli Peace Negotiator Tzipi Livni seems to be calling for racist revenge, mass murder, and ethnic cleansing, asking of Israeli solders that they behave illegally against Palestinian civilians], Blumenthal reveals the story of Israel in the wake of the collapse of its earlier Oslo peace process.

As Blumenthal demonstrates, Israel has become a country where right-wing leaders like Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu (who was groomed in the U.S. to have almost no accent and no deviation from CIA and military-industrial complex policies) and Avigdor Lieberman are sacrificing their nominal democracy on the altar of their power politics.

The loyal "opposition" passively stands aside and watches the organized assault on even Israeli civil liberties (the Palestinians haven't had any since the founding of SOI, the new "State of Israel," the old one being the Russian oblast no one acknowledges).

Goliath vs. Pal'lid
Armed Goliath sets out to destroy Dave (B2C)
The state-funded Orthodox rabbis publish books that provide instructions on how and when to kill Gentiles.

Half of Jewish youth -- indoctrinated by constant propaganda and the prospects of compulsory military service, where they will learn militant brutality, xenophobic racism, and deadly religious fervor -- already declare their refusal to sit in a classroom with any Arab, particularly any Palestinian-Arab.

Mob violence targets Palestinians and Jewish-African asylum seekers, who are scapegoated by leading government officials as "demographic threats."

Immersing himself like few other investigative journalists, Blumenthal goes deep inside the world of hardline political leaders and movements to interview these demagogues and divas in their homes, in the Knesset (Israeli "Parliament"), and in the watering holes (bars) where their young acolytes hang out. He speaks with the actual political leaders behind the organized assault on civil liberties.

As his journey deepens, Blumental painstakingly reports on the occupied Palestinians challenging schemes of demographic separation through unarmed protests only to be shot or arrested -- even as children. He talks at length to youths and those who attempt to be leaders in Palestinian society inside Israel, who are now targeted by "security" (read "fully armed military") service dragnets and legislation suppressing their speech.

He provides in-depth reporting on the small band of Jewish Israeli dissidents who have shaken off a conformist mindset that permeates the media, schools, and the military.

Through his far-ranging travels, the author illuminates the present by uncovering the ghosts of the terrible past -- the histories of Palestinian neighborhoods and villages depopulated and/or destroyed and now gone and forgotten.

(ABC RN) While most people have heard of the murderous Mossad (Israel's CIA), few have heard of Israel's internal secret service, Shin Bet (roughly their FBI). For the first time, all six living former leaders of the this secretive spy agency have agreed to talk publicly. The result is the feature documentary "The Gatekeepers" (distributed by Madman Entertainment in Australia), which screened at the Israeli Film Festival in Sydney before general release. around the country. Radio National "Breakfast"

And he shows how that history has set the stage for the current crisis of Israeli society. Tragically, the Holocaust perpetrated by the Nazis up until three years before the invasion and occupation of Palestine to convert it into the "State of Israel" (with the old lie every Israeli learns in school:
  • [Hey, you can't compare Israelis to Nazis!! We're not. Israeli militants, members of its secret service called Shin Bet, are in the shocking documentary "The Gatekeepers," made by Jews interested in the truth, a movie in which Shin Bet officials admit to many war crimes and successive efforts to exterminate all Palestinians in Palestine to be able to change the country's name to "State of Israel." Oh, well, I guess that's okay then.]
"We were a people with a land searching for a land without a people," which we found in overcrowded Palestine long occupied by those "no people" the Palestinians, of which Jesus was one.

That when it began, this never ending "crisis in the Middle East" fomented by the CIA and Western governments. The imperial land grab has been turned into a solid justification for the occupation and extermination of the indigenous Palestinians, who were forced off their land like Native Americans (who also did not exist before we, the British colonial settlers and pilgrims, conquistadors and incrementally genocidal invaders) while the world argues about what the Bible does and does not say and what God wants. Somehow the cubicle workers at the CIA and countless PR firms here in the U.S. and in Israel have us believing lies, doubting texts, and cheering on war and genocide, crimes against humanity, and well crafted deceptions in defense of Israel, lies many Jews around the world can see through as a precious few stand up and speak out. Even soldiers and Shin Bet officials are tired of the Israeli government's lies and campaigns. How are we as Americans just sitting on the sidelines saying, "Oh well, whaddya gonna do?"
A brave and unflinching account of the real facts on the ground, Goliath is an unprecedented and compelling work of journalism Israel does not want the world to know.

"Anti-Semitic"?
(FRF, "Defamation") Intent on shaking up the ultimate sacred cow for Jews, Israeli director Yoav Shamir embarks on a provocative -- and at times irreverent -- quest to answer the question, What is anti-Semitism today? Does it remain a dangerous and immediate threat, or is it a scare tactic used by right-wing Zionists to discredit critics?  Speaking with an array of people from across the political spectrum (including the head of the Anti-Defamation League and its fiercest critic, author Norman Finkelstein) and traveling to places like Auschwitz (alongside Israeli school kids) and Brooklyn (to explore reports of violence against Jews), Shamir discovers the realities of anti-Semitism today. His findings are shocking, enlightening, and surprisingly often wryly funny.

DEUTERONOMY
Please, Almighty, don't kill me.
1. When I was a child, my parents and teachers told me about a man who was very strong. They told me he could destroy the whole world. They told me he could lift mountains. They told me he could part the sea. It was important to keep the man happy. When we obeyed what the man had commanded, the man liked us. He liked us so much that he killed anyone who didn't like us. But when we didn't obey what he had commanded, he didn't like us. He hated us. Some days he hated us so much, he killed us; other days, he let other people kill us. We call these days "holidays." On Purim, we remembered how the Persians tried to kill us. On Passover, we remembered how the Egyptians tried to kill us. On Chanukah, we remembered how the Greeks tried to kill us.

—Blessed is He, we prayed.
  • Buddhism and the God-Idea (PDF)
  • My religious education in brief: First Christianity (all of the Abrahamic faiths) tells us, "This is sin, that is sin, and all that over there is sin. Don't do any of those! You're free to go, have fun, but remember: If you do do any them, you had better feel afraid and guilty because, you just wait, you're going to get it! Welcome to Earth. That's just the way it is. Merry Christmas, motherf----r!"
Thou shalt fear, read this book, and obey it!
As bad as these punishments could be, they were nothing compared to the punishments meted out to us by the man himself. Then there would be famines. Then there would be floods. Then there would be furious vengeance. Hitler might have killed the Jews, but this man drowned the world. This was the song we sang about him in kindergarten: "God is here, God is there, God is truly everywhere!."

Then snacks, and a fitful nap.

I was raised like a veal in the Orthodox Jewish town of Monsey, New York, where it was forbidden to eat veal together with dairy. Having eaten veal, one was forbidden to eat dairy for six hours; having eaten dairy, one was forbidden to eat veal for three hours. One was forbidden to eat pig forever, or at least until the Messiah arrived; it was then, Rabbi Napier had taught us in the fourth grade, that the wicked would be punished, the dead would be resurrected, and pigs would become kosher.

—Yay! I said, high-fiving my best friend, Dov.

—You should be so excited, said Rabbi Napier, peering with disgust over the top of his thick horn-rimmed glasses, —on the Day of God's Judgment.

Cut it, or you're not kosher. (GR)
The people of Monsey were terrified of God, and they taught me to be terrified of Him, too — they taught me about a woman named Sarah who would giggle, so He made her barren; about a man named Job who was sad and asked, —Why?, so God came down to the Earth, grabbed Job by the collar, and howled, —Who the f*ck do you think you are?; about a man named Moses, who escaped from Egypt, and who roamed through the desert for forty years in search of a Promised Land, and whom God killed just before he reached it—face-plant on the one-yard line—because Moses had sinned, once, forty years earlier. His crime? Hitting a rock. And so, in early autumn, when the leaves choked, turned colors, and fell to their deaths, the people of Monsey gathered together in synagogues across the town and wondered, aloud and in unison, how God was going to kill them: —Who will live and who will die, they prayed, —
  • who at his predestined time and who before his time,
  • who by water and who by fire,
  • who by sword,
  • who by beast,
  • who by famine,
  • who by thirst,
  • who by storm,
  • who by plague,
  • who by strangulation, and
  • who by stoning.
Then lunch, and a fitful nap.

Man, they had it rough. So actually I helped God.
It is Monday morning, six weeks after my wife and I learned that she is pregnant with our first child, and I am stopped at a traffic light. The kid doesn't have a chance. It's a trick. I know this God; I know how He works. The baby will be miscarried, or die during childbirth, or my wife will die during childbirth, or they'll both die during childbirth, or neither of them will die and I'll think I'm in the clear, and then on the drive home from the hospital, we'll collide head-on with a drunk driver and they'll both die later, my wife and child, in the emergency room just down the hall from the room where only minutes ago we stood so happy and alive and full of promise.

That would be so God. More

How Israel's PR controls the media (video)

Why is the U.S. public unaware of the war crimes our government (military-industrial complex) and Israel are committing even though it's in the news all day long? Careful public relations, also known as well crafted propaganda. Jahlly and Ratzkoff explain in Peace, Propaganda & the Promised Land.

This video shows how the foreign policy interests of American political elites -- working in combination with Israeli public relations strategies -- influence U.S. news reporting about the Middle East conflict.

Combining American and British TV news clips with observations of analysts, journalists, and political activists, "Peace, Propaganda & the Promised Land" provides a brief historical overview, a striking media comparison, and an examination of factors that have distorted U.S. media coverage and, in turn, [controlled] American public opinion.
What will it take to get the U.S. public's attention about our and Israel's crimes? Topless FEMEN protesters conduct a "Slut Walk" in Tel Aviv, May 10, 2014 calling attention to religious sexism, patriarchy, militarism, and crimes against humanity.

Peace, Propaganda & the Promised Land:
U.S. Media on Israel-Palestine
Peace, Propaganda & the Promised Land provides a striking comparison of U.S. and international media coverage.

It focuses on the "crisis" [actually Israel's genocide, ethnic cleansing, and crimes against humanity] in the Middle East, zeroing in on distortions in U.S. coverage reinforce false perceptions of the Israeli-Palestinian problem.

I did what you said. - You'll get over it.
This pivotal documentary exposes how the foreign policy interests of American political elites -- big oil, a need to have an American military base in the region, and others -- work in combination with Israeli public relations (PR) strategies to exercise a powerful influence over how news from Israel is reported.

Through the voices of scholars, media critics, peace activists, religious figures, and Middle East experts, Peace, Propaganda & the Promised Land carefully analyzes and explains how -- through the use of language, framing and context -- the Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gaza remains hidden in the news media, and Israeli colonization of the occupied territories appears to be a defensive move rather than an offensive one.

Jewish-Israeli occupiers demand Muslim-Arab blood: All the U.S. gets in its mainstream media are slanted, spun, pro-Israeli images, explanations, and crafted talking points (newser.com)

The documentary also explores the ways that U.S. journalists, for reasons ranging from intimidation to a lack of thorough investigation, have become complicit in carrying out Israel's PR campaign. At its core, the documentary raises questions about the ethics and role of journalism, and the relationship between media and politics.

Interviewees include Seth Ackerman, Mjr. Stav Adivi, Rabbi Arik Ascherman, Hanan Ashrawi, Noam Chomsky, Robert Fisk, Neve Gordon, Toufic Haddad, Sam Husseini, Hussein Ibish, Robert Jensen, Rabbi Michael Lerner, Karen Pfeifer, Alisa Solomon, and Gila Svirsky. More

World media offers glimpses of Israel's crimes

"Only stones remain": civilian Gaza Strip in ruins after Israeli attack
Thumbnail image for In Gaza, a funeral for the two-state solution?
Analysis: Israel’s Prime Minister [and chief CIA-sponsored war criminal] Benjamin Netanyahu has claimed its war is proof Israel can’t accept an independent Palestinian state.
This year there was no EID in Gaza (Palestine, which Israel has invaded and claimed for its state and has now set out to kill 1.8 million inhabitants trapped by Israeli and Israeli-controlled Egyptian borders), but there was aparthEID.

PLO says factions offer 24-hour Gaza truce
Civilian murders in the "Gaza Strip" section of Israel may amount to war crimes, U.N. human rights chief says
At least 100 Palestinians were murdered overnight by Israeli bombardment that targeted and shut down territory’s only power plant.

A senior Palestinian Liberation Organization official said Tuesday [July 29] that all Palestinian factions have offered a 24-hour cease-fire in Gaza, but minutes later Hamas appeared to reject the plan. The possible development came after a night of heavy Israeli shelling that shut down the [world's largest open air, concentration camp]’s only power plant.
Yasser Abed Rabbo, a PLO executive committee member, said that all Palestinian factions had agreed on the offer and that a unified delegation had been sent to Cairo to talk about the next steps.

"The factions, including Hamas and [Islamic] Jihad, are prepared for a 24-hour truce, and Israel will be held the responsible if it doesn't accept the truce as well," he said. "There is a proposal from the U.N. to extend the truce to 72 hours. And we look favorably upon that."

Obama’s insensitive iftar comments irk American Muslims

But Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri denied that the group agreed to the truce, with the Palestinian news agency Maan quoting him as saying that "Yasser Abed Rabbu's statement that Hamas agreed to a cease-fire for 24 hours is not true and has nothing to do with the resistance's stand."

"We will consider a cease-fire when Israel commits to it with international guarantees," Abu Zuhri added. Hamas has said its conditions for a truce include Israel's ending its siege of Gaza and the release of long-serving political prisoners that was agreed to in a 2012 cease-fire but not carried out completely.

Israel has said it will not comment until Hamas officially presents the offer.

Word of the possible cease-fire came after Israel's military continued to pound the Gaza Strip overnight, killing at least 100 people in assaults launched from air, land and sea after midnight, according to Palestinian officials.

Five families were almost entirely wiped out in Khan Younis and Rafah, according to reports by Israeli news website Haaretz. For many Gaza residents, it was the heaviest night of bombing since the military offensive against the territory began three weeks ago.

Gaza's only power plant was shut down overnight because of a large fire caused by Israeli shelling, Palestinian officials said. More

Truth about Israel must not get out! (video)

Why does Netanyahu lie to promote war?
The truth about Israel must not be allowed to get out. And yet this book got through the cracks somehow to sell enough to become a best seller. As a Jew Max Blumenthal should hang his head low to be telling the truth at a sensitive time like this:

Everyone knows that in a war, any war, truth is the first casualty. This is true even in an obscenely lopsided ground invasion by a professional army -- the fourth most powerful in the world (aided and abetted by the first) -- of impoverished, blockaded civilian ghettos. But Israel has gone above and beyond to perpetuate lies about its criminal activities.

(WAU) The illegal "collective punishment" of indigenous Palestinian civilians trying to stay alive in a racist apartheid "State of Israel" -- Sherine Tadros reports on Israel's war that leaves thousands of displaced people in Gaza, Jan. 2014

Israel has overwhelming firepower raining down from the air in bombing raids testing new and illegal munitions (which will help sales and benefit the booming Israeli arms trade and its many officers' weapons dealers serving the rest of the world, which naturally keeps silent so as not to be denied access to their sophisticated new weapons from the five UN Security Council permanent members, who coincidentally are the top weapons traders) while bloodthirsty Israelis, many of them blood-lusty nationalists and Jews crying out for racist revenge and the utter extermination of indigenous Palestinians.

Will there be justice for Palestine, Max Blumenthal?
Sonali Kolhatkar (UprisingRadio.org, July 24, 2014)
Israeli tanks hit a United Nations school in Gaza today killing 15 people who were seeking shelter there and injuring ten times that many people on the 16th day of the internationally-condemned assault on civilians called "Operation Protective Edge." Nearly 700 Palestinians have been killed [now more than a 1,000 with countless more severely injured, maimed, and driven to PTSD], a major portion of them children.
The completely unbiased New York Times is reporting this morning that Israel is defending its actions claiming that a small band of resisters called "Hamas" is embedding it resisters among the only place they have as ordinary civilians. The paper cited as unquestioned fact, “Hamas fighters have set traps for Israeli soldiers in civilian homes and stored weapons in mosques and schools.”

The United Nations in recent days has decided to launch an investigation even as the attack continues on potential Israeli war crimes. More

Moving to California, Barry?
Question: Why does the completely unbiased Los Angeles Times have a picture of crying Israeli soldiers burying a fellow state-sponsored terrorist militant? The terrorist militant was "only following orders," which just happened to be to kill women and children in defense of a flag, an ideal, a second homeland, more territory, and total security from people who get no such security from the world's fourth strongest army (backed by the first).

Answer: This and other such examples of the severe pro-Israeli bias in the U.S. mainstream media drums up sympathy for war criminals, war criminals favorable to the US that is. It makes average U.S. citizens think there are two more or less equal sides to the story and that Israel is probably right, whatever their side may be: No need to tell us because we already side with you -- as does our House and Senate -- and have next to no idea what's happening to the millions of Palestinians who are being starved, oppressed, and now killed with "pinpoint" accuracy or what U.S. Sec'y of State John Kerry (and former president except that he caved so quickly when faced with G.W. Bush's false claims to the throne) calls "some hell of a pinpoint operation."

Noam Chomsky: What drives U.S policy?
That's the way Americans want it, not American-readers, but American public relations firms, military contractors, spying agencies (like our beloved Company the CIA), Pentagon, Mossad, and the friends and family of dual citizens and militants (every Israeli citizen has to join the military, except for the orthodox, and even they may lose their exemption in the future). So get your free trip to Israel, get armed, get trained, and revenge-mindedly help kill some Arabs (pronounced aaa-rabs).
