Why we love the LORD who hates (video)

Editors, Wisdom Quarterly; Lorde; Clevver.com, Clevver News; Shalom Auslander

What do Justin Bieber, Lana Del Rey, Britney Spears, and Amanda Bynes have in common? Aside from losing their childhood innocence to fame, money, illegal drugs, and the Illuminati? They have all been bashed by pop superstar Lorde!

G-d d-mn, I hate filthy sinners!
You think Lorde is bad? What about "the Lord"? The Lord is a name for the many Gods of the Judeo-Christian Bible -- Yahweh, El, Elohim, Adonai, and many other titles and personal names, many of them plural, even as we all pretend it's a monotheistic "there's only one God" faith that somehow emerged from a rich polytheistic history.

Hope you're not tracking my sins, God.
The Bible was not rewritten to make it monotheistic, just translated in ways to cover up its polytheism. But no one covers up how angry their "angry God" is. So more honest readers, or those familiar with more than one biblical language -- Greek, Coptic (Egyptian), Aramaic, Hebrew, Latin, and so on -- say, "There's only one true God" as if all the other ones in the Bible are fake. And "God is love...but don't read the Old Testament because that was the old deal; here's the new deal."

Who's even keeping score? - Come on, dad.
Why does this angry, jealous, proud God, this GROUP of Gods, constantly referring to themselves in chapter after chapter of their bestseller in the plural, HATE so much?

"God is love"? Many Christian fundamentalists and Jews say different: Who can argue with Shalom Auslander's many points? Has any Christian read the Book of Judges (Sefer Shoftim, ספר שופטים, is the seventh book of the Hebrew Bible and the Christian Bible), the Old Testament where the Christian Gods (the Lord) revel in war, command killings, and order other atrocities?

Foreskin's Lament by Shalom Auslander on reading the Bible as history and realizing what it means to be a punishing God's "chosen people."

The Bible is dangerous reading.
Is it any wonder that Christians may be the world's most formidable terrorists, crusaders, invaders, rapists, conquistadors, (hypocrites?), enslavers, sexists, patriarchs... The God(s) of the Bible revel in cruelty, revenge, destruction, punishment, smiting, scaring, threatening. And yet we love it/him/them. It must be Stockholm Syndrome at work deep in our earthling psyches.

Christian forgeries?
"The Old Testament doesn't count!" Come on, we're modern people. God only became love in the New Testament? Angry dad, happy son, no mother, mysterious dove -- this is the "Holy Family"? What about giving Asherah, prana (the real "holy spirit," the subtle-breath full of chi), Mary, and direct mystical experience their due? The Catholics (and Buddhists) give Mary (as Guan Yin) plenty of attention, and we don't know who Asherah is.
God wants us to stone, kill, rampage

Israel's atrocities continue and worsen (video)

One of the greatest challenges in understanding the real situation in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories is getting reliable information. This latest assault on Gaza reaffirms the key role played by the U.S. media in maintaining the information blockade. [Our U.S. F-14 fighter planes are used by Israel in its/our bombing of Palestinian civilians manned by Israeli pilots trained by the U.S. military-industrial complex]. It also highlights the increasing importance of pressure applied by social networks.

With a reporter in Gaza right now (Sharif Abdel Kouddous, who took this picture of a Palestinian baby harmed by Israel now in the hospital)... Despite [another phony] U.N. Security Council call for a ceasefire, Israel has intensified its attack on Gaza and warned the world of a "protracted campaign," more war crimes against civilians justified by saying it is only trying to kill Hamas members.

Palestinian officials say they have killed more than 110 people in the past 24 hours, with some saying Monday was the most intensive night of bombing the civilian city of Gaza so far. During this time, Israel attacked more than 150 sites including Gaza’s only power station and a media center that houses the broadcasting headquarters of Hamas and a number of other Arab satellite news channels. News of what is really going on under Israeli military oppression will not be allowed to get out unless Israel controls the broadcast, the access, the PR, the message, and the spin.

Earlier on Monday, ten people were killed, eight of which were children, and 40 others wounded by a bomb in a park near the beach in the Shati refugee camp in Gaza City. The child victims were said to be playing on a playground swing when they were hit by Israel.

Israel, to add confusion to the chaos, denies carrying out the attack -- even though eyewitnesses said the explosion was caused by an Israeli airstrike.

Another Israeli bombing reportedly hit an outpatient building of Gaza’s main hospital, al-Shifa. Meanwhile, ten Israeli soldiers were said to have been killed on Monday. Fifty-three Israeli soldiers, two Israeli civilians, and a Thai Buddhist migrant farmworker have died since Israel's assault began.

Democracy Now! goes to Gaza City to speak with correspondent Sharif Abdel Kouddous. "[Israel has] shelled hospitals, U.N. schools; they’ve bombed people in their homes," Kouddous reports. "There’s literally nowhere for these people to run to." Palestinian journalist Mohammed Omer: Lifting Israel's blockade isn’t a Hamas demand — it’s a human right:

Today is Eid, the feast and culmination of Ramadan, the holiest month on the Islamic calendar. But there is no opportunity to observe or celebrate it. The number of Palestinians murdered by Israel has topped 1,100 after one of the deadliest 24-hour periods since Israel began an assault on a section of Palestine/Israel called "Gaza" 22 days ago.

Most of the murdered have been civilians. More than 1 out of 10 (180,000) Palestinians have been displaced over the past three weeks. This is roughly 10 percent of the population of the Gaza Strip, an open air prison that is one of the most crowded, densely populated pieces of land in the world.

Democracy Now! is joined from Gaza City by award-winning Palestinian journalist Mohammed Omer. "I believe Israel wants to make people turn against the resistance," Omer reports. "There is no way for people to turn against the resistance -- in fact it is the other way around. People in the street say we do support resistance because that is the only way to end the occupation

"...I’m afraid we are going to have more radical generations in the Gaza Strip, and I fear for the future of Gaza and the future of the West Bank [the two remaining parts of Israel where all indigenous Palestinians have been corralled into areas like concentration camps, refugee camps, and metropolitan prisons where Israel controls everything that goes in and comes out in addition to raining down death on civilians any time it wishes] -- and I fear the future of the region if the international community is not acting now to end the blockade and the operation in Gaza." Palestinian journalist Mohammed Omer: lifting Israel's blockade...

Why do Christians blame rape victims?

Christian university student/rape victim told to look for her sin as the cause (RawStory)

Catholic Church [get] out of my body (FEMEN)
According to an investigative report from Al Jazeera America, rape victims searching for help at Bob Jones [Christian] University in Greenville, South Carolina, were told to repent and seek out their own “root sin” that caused them to be raped.

Within the past year BJU has opened its own investigation into sexual abuse and rape, and now former students who were victimized are coming forward to tell their stories about life on a campus where they were shamed and told to keep their stories to themselves.

Rape, abuse, incest (rainn.org)
Coming from a conservative Mennonite family, Katie Landry, who at age 19 had never even held hands with a boy, was raped multiple times by her supervisor at her summer job. Two years later, haunted by the attacks, and attending Bob Jones University, she sought help from then dean of students, Jim Berg.

BJU rape survivor Katie Landry (AJA)
According to Landry,  Berg asked whether she’d been drinking or smoking pot and if she had been “impure.” He then brought up her “root sin.”

“He goes, ‘Well, there’s always a sin under other sin. There’s a root sin,’” Landry explained. “And he said, ‘We have to find the sin in your life that caused your rape.’ And I just ran.”

“He just confirmed my worst nightmare,” she added. “It was something I had done. It was something about me. It was my fault.”

Christian conservatives: Rape? Were you asking for it? That's what ya get for having sex!

Republicans: Military-rape? Man up, soldier!
Landry eventually withdrew from the school and didn’t tell anyone else for five more years.

In interviews with Al Jazeera, other victims of abuse related how Biblical scripture was used to lay blame for the rapes on their own sins and that their trauma was a sign that they were fighting God and would never be at peace until they forgave their rapists.

Called the “Fortress of Fundamentalism, ” Bob Jones University’s philosophical approach to almost all mental problems, beyond medical issues, is that they are the result of sin.
  • [Rationalist, materialist, left-leaning readers may not like to hear it but: Unskillful karma from past lives does cause one many troubles in many ways in other lives. To blame oneself for what was done in previous lives, however, leads to a lot of confusion about identity, justice, root causes and conditions of anything. We are not in the past. The present does not contain all of the causes, but it usually does contain triggers, and we can do something about guiding our attention and intention now. The working out of karma is very mysterious and impossibly complicated. Make merit to counteract it.]
Even R.J. has more compassion
In a 1996 book, Becoming an Effective Christian Counselor, written by former BJU Dean of Education Walter Fremont and his wife, counselors are instructed to emphasize that the blame lies with the abuser.

However, the authors also state that being sexually assaulted is not an excuse for “sinful feelings” of discontentment, hate, fear, and especially, bitterness, calling unresolved anger “rebellion and bitterness against God.”
  • [That's true. That's right. Those things are our karma, our action in response to someone else's grave misdeeds. Each being is the owner of one's own karma. Rapists have the karma of rape, which does NOT necessarily manifest as being raped although it can. It manifests in many terrible and unwelcome ways now and in many future lives. But are we performing the mental-karma of resentment, hate, fear, anger, sadness, and so on? Although most of us cannot normally exercise control over our emotions and reactions, we can gain such control. We can be mindful and not react to what comes up. If we fail to be mindful then react to what typically comes up for victims, we sink ourselves worse than the initial injury.]
Every 2 minutes in the U.S. (codepinkla.org)
Previously Al Jazeera America reported on a BJU student named identified only as Lydia, who had been raped off campus and, seeking help, reported it to the school authorities only to eventually be expelled for dwelling upon it and questioning the schools handling of the incident. [Such indifference by the school is abominable!] More

Seattle Campus Shooting, 6 Shot (video)

Was it proving his masculinity or subjugating her femininity, what drives a mass shooter?
Police State coming: Seattle versus World Trade Organization (freedomsphoenix.com)
Five percent or more of police are predators, according to a former San Diego police chief. How many more are sociopaths? When ununiformed criminals are induced, coached, and triggered, mayhem ensues. Police are deployed. We are locked down. Whole cities are put under martial law. The police rush in with orders to shoot anyone they see for our "protection." That's the plan. With protection like that, who needs a "lone gunman"/MC? The planners! (Occupy, Battle-of-Seattle, fromthevaultradio.org).

Multiple people were left wounded after a shooting this afternoon at Seattle Pacific University. The Seattle PD warned that they are dealing with conflicting reports, but confirmed at least three people were injured and transported to a local hospital. Other news outlets are reporting as many as six victims were hospitalized. Although there were reports that two people were arrested, police now say they only have one suspect in custody. According to the AP, police say they have stopped searching for a second gunman, who was described as a white male wearing a long-sleeved blue shirt. According to KIRO 7, the suspect's car was registered to the parent of a Seattle Pacific University student. Students told reporters they initially thought the gunshots were a science experiment until the school went into lockdown.

A man in his 20s died and at least three others were hospitalized after a shooting inside an engineering building on the campus of Seattle Pacific University [SPU, a Christian school] on Thursday [June 5, 2014] afternoon [about 3:00 pm], authorities said.

A suspect was in custody. Seattle police had initially sought a second suspect [who was part of the false flag operation before they were keyed in and told to say there was only one shooter, the lone gunman, and we venture to guess it will be a white young man on antidepressants with a history of loving guns and not talking to his neighbors with a connection to psychiatric studies either through the military, the university, or Hollywood], but later said the person in custody was the only shooter.

As many as six people were injured, according to the Seattle Fire Department. One woman suffered life-threatening injuries. Two men suffered minor injuries and were in stable condition.

Many students reported that the gunshots -- heard throughout the building -- sounded like a science experiment, maybe a helium balloon popping.

But when a student in Room 136 in Otto Miller Hall went into the hallway to doublecheck, she quickly came back and offered a terse statement, "I think someone got shot," according to Blake Oliveira, who was inside the classroom... More

1 Dead, 3 Wounded In Shooting at Seattle College Campus
One person has died in the campus shooting at Seattle Pacific University, according to Susan Gregg, a spokeswoman for Harborview Medical Center. [Original story published at 8:11 pm ET and labelled June 6 world time] A gunman opened fired Thursday [June 5 local time] at Seattle Pacific [Christian] University, wounding four people before faculty and staff disarmed him, the Seattle Police Department said. The gunman was reloading when the staff stopped him, police reported on the department's official Twitter account. The accused shooter, whose identity was not immediately released, is in custody, and no outstanding suspects are being sought, police said At least two people -- one man and one woman -- suffered life-threatening injuries, police said. Another man and woman were in stable condition, they said. The shooting began inside Otto Miller Hall, which houses the university's science, math and engineering departments. Witness Briana Clarke told CNN affiliate KOMO she was in Otto Miller Hall when she heard shots and then saw students running. "I first heard two muffled shots that I thought were two helium balloons," she said. Then she said she saw between five and seven students who appeared to be injured. The school was locked down during the shooting, and it was lifted after police cleared all the buildings on the campus. "I'm in my office with four students with the blinds closed. We're sitting on the floor with the door locked, very scared," university counselor Karen Altus told KOMO. Seattle Pacific is a Christian university with a student population of 4,270. It is located in Seattle's Queen Anne neighborhood.

What child molesters look like (photos)

Jackson family child rapists and sex abusers (Perquimans County Sheriff's Office)

Not a "victim," Grace McDonnell
The sheriff of a small American county in northeast North Carolina says he is "disgusted." Why?

He is disgusted by the parents of six men who are accused of sexually abusing their sister for nearly a decade, at a private family compound.

"I blame the parents for this," Perquimans County Sheriff Eric Tilley told The Huffington Post on Tuesday.

Prison guard/sexual predators arrested
"It's your responsibility as a parent to teach [your children] right and wrong. When you see a child doing something that is totally wrong and you don't correct them, then the child thinks it's okay."
  • [Are they Christians? Not "good Christians," of course. But, yes, they are all Christians, patriarchal Protestants. FEMEN says no to patriarchy.
"Silent all these years" (rainn.org)
Tilley said his deputies charged the six brothers, ranging in age from 19 to 27, on May 6 [2014], with a number of crimes related to the alleged sexual abuse of their 16-year-old sister [which means she is still a child].

The sheriff said the alleged abuse began when the girl was 4 years old and continued [for a decade] until she was almost 15.

Authorities have identified the brothers as Aaron Jackson, 19, Benjamin Jackson, also 19, Nathaniel Jackson, 21, Mathew Jackson, 23, Jon Jackson, 25, and Eric Jackson, 27.

I raped Justin Bieber. He was asking for it?
Charges against the brothers range from rape to sexual assault, according to Tilley.

The men's parents -- John Jackson, 65 and Nita Jackson, 54 -- face charges of felony child abuse.

"Part of the investigation revealed that, at one point, the mother observed some of this activity and never did anything about it," Tilley said of the charges against the parents. More

"Inequality for All" especially girls! (video)

Ashley Wells, Pat Macpherson, Wisdom Quarterly; Prof. Robert Reich, UC Berkeley; Kathryn Joyce, Amy Goodman (democracynow.org, May 8, 2014)

Ah, don't touch me! You're a girl!
Is the Protestant world teetering on the edge of a sex-abuse scandal similar to the one rocking the Catholic Church? Reporter Kathryn Joyce, whose cover story in The American Prospect profiles Boz Tchividjian, a law professor at Liberty University -- a school founded by Rev. Jerry Falwell -- and former prosecutor who worked on many sexual abuse cases. Prof. Tchividjian used his experience to found GRACE -- Godly Response to Abuse in the Christian Environment. GRACEmade headlines in February when a famous evangelical school, Bob Jones University, hired it to interview faculty and students about their experiences with sexual assault, then fired it before the it had a chance to report the results -- only to hire it back after a public outcry. Prof. Tchividjian happens to be the grandson of the famous evangelist Rev. Billy Graham. More
