Hybrid vs. Hybrid: Iggy attacks Lorde (video)

Crystal Quintero, Ashley Wells, Amber Larson, Wisdom Quarterly;
(Barely Political) Key of Awesome parody of songstress Lorde's megasuperhit "Royals"
Space devi hybrid Lorde responds to Iggy "the World's Greatest Rapper Except for all the Others" Azalea’s criticism of her Nirvana Rock Hall tribute (Austin Hargrave/Miller Mobley)

Lorde has responded to critical comments made by Iggy [Amethyst] Azalea to Billboard about her performance with the surviving members of Nirvana at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in April.
"Nothing against her, but I think when you're doing a tribute to someone that's dead, generally it should be the person's peer," Azalea told Billboard in her recent cover story. "Lorde is not Kurt Cobain's peer. No matter if she killed the performance or not, I just don't think it's appropriate." More

Who in the world is Iggy to talk?
New Zealand's child rock star Lorde takes an Asian lover and makes a big splash without meaning to (ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com).

I'm not Marilyn Manson in drag, I'm Iggy!
Everyone knows Lorde, the great but quirky semi-divine, semi-human overnight popstar. She became famous at 16 for her hit "Royals." But who is Iggy (born Amethyst Azalea)? Apparently being unattractive is now no obstacle for female rockers, just as it has never slowed down males (too many examples to mention, but how about that guy who married Julia Roberts). Look at various iterations of Lady Gaga, or the latest version of Madonna, and lots of new artists are proving that tons of makeup and flashy stripper moves and clothes are enough. Look:

Sexy Hindu history book banned in India

After years of a legal battle, Penguin Books India, a division of Penguin Random House, has agreed to pull its book, The Hindus: An Alternative History from Indian bookstores.

The history book, which its author [Harvard, Oxford Indologist] Wendy Doniger has described as an alternative, Howard Zinn-esque version of the history of Hinduism, has been accused of denigrating Hindus and Hindu [Brahminical Vedic] traditions.

(goodreads.com)
“It tells an aspect of the history of Hinduism that is unpleasant for a certain type of Hindu, what I would call a fundamentalist Hindu, to accept,” said Doniger, who is a professor of history of religion at the University of Chicago.

The lawsuit against Doniger and Penguin was filed by Dinanath Batra, a leader of the conservative Hindu group, Shiksha Bachao Andolan Samiti.

Among their specific accusations is that the book wrongly includes a map of India that excludes Kashmir, the subject of a territorial dispute with neighboring Pakistan. [Hey, Doniger, even we think it's going too far!

This isn’t the first time that Doniger has encountered an impassioned and vocal response to her ideas about Hinduism. More

The Politics of Sexuality in Ancient India: The Indebtedness of the Kamasutra to the Arthasastra
Shivdasani Lecture by Prof. Wendy Doniger, November 2013
Penguin to withdraw BANNED book (MW)
The depth and extent of the influence of the textbook of politics (Arthasastra) on the textbook of sexuality (Kamasutra) is surprising, most evident in the high incidence of distrust, betrayal, and force in sexual relationships.

And the subsequent influence of the Kamasutra upon not only the erotic literary traditions of India but the eroticism of the bhakti [devotional] tradition, particularly in Bengal, accounts in part for the darkness of that tradition, its emphasis on divine abandonment, betrayal, and even violence.

Prof. Wendy Doniger [M.A., Ph.D. (Harvard University),
D.Phil. (Oxford University)] is Mircea Eliade Distinguished Service Professor of the History of Religions in the Divinity School, University of Chicago, and in the Department of South Asian Languages and Civilizations, the Committee on Social Thought.

Prof. Doniger's research and teaching focus on translating, interpreting, and comparing elements of Hinduism through modern contexts of gender, sexuality, and identity. Her courses in mythology address themes in cross-cultural expanses, such as death, dreams, evil, horses, sex, and women; her courses in Hinduism cover a broad spectrum that, in addition to mythology... Lost City of Angels rocks! (Occupy LA)
Living in Tinsel Town has its advantages. Among them is the variety of music concentrated into a smoggy basin girded by a mountain sign, golden coastline, and a smoggy desert expanse mostly covered by asphalt.

The intermittent heat makes artists half baked. As previously noted, America is like a box of cereal with its seams split, shaking out on both ends, littering coasts east and west with flakes, fruits, and nuts. Los Angeles has more than its share of nuts. And many of them occupy positions of influence in the music industry.

Entangled in Darkness, Seeking the Light

Dhr. Seven and CC Liu, Wisdom Quarterly; Deborah King
Deborah King is a friend of Wisdom Quarterly and was once a regular feature with her online Hay House radio show and frequent appearances around the country.

She has just come out with a new book Entangled in Darkness, Seeking the Light and was recently interviewed by GAIAM TV's Lisa Garr, hostess of Pacifica Radio's Los Angeles affiliate, KPFK FM, on TheAwareShow.com).

Deborah King
Master healer and urban shaman, [and sexual abuse survivor], Deborah King (DeborahKingCenter.com),  was a successful attorney in her 20s when a diagnosis of cancer sent her on a search for truth.

It radically changed her life. Unwilling to undergo invasive (and harmful) surgery, she turned to alternative medicine. She had an amazing remission at the hands of a healer. Leaving the corporate arena for the mysterious world of healers, sages, and shamans, King mastered ancient and modern healing systems, ultimately developing a powerful healing technique of her own.

Her latest book, Entangled in Darkness: Seeking the Light, explores the purpose of the age-old battle between light and dark that is waged within us.

INTERVIEW (9-12-13) The Aware Show’s special guest this week is spiritual teacher, health-and-wellness expert, and New York Times best-selling author Dr. Deborah King. Take an excursion into the inner sanctum of the "soul," our deepest sense of self, to help us understand why we are here.

What is the purpose of the age-old battle between light and dark? It is being waged within us all. She will help deepen our insight into how and why we might be entangled in darkness and provide us with practical tools to infuse our lives with light. King talks about techniques to clear negative energies, dark entities, cordings, and intentional and unintentional attacks. More
